3 Student/Teachers pose with their instructor

With teacher shortages at an all-time high, Colorado ISD is making every effort to help stop the deficit by investing in our most precious asset, our people.

This past spring, CISD created the College For All Wolves Program in conjunction with the District's 'Grow Your Own' initiative. CISD partnered with Region 14 and Cisco College to allow existing CISD staff to return to college, graduate with a child development degree, and become certified teachers.

After receiving significant interest in the cohort, CISD launched three members of the CISD family into the College For All Wolves inaugural pitch.

Cammie Oliver, Kendra Palmer, and Marisa Sisco successfully made it through enrollment and navigating their second semester. Cammie and Kendra are  CES Head Start/PreK program team members, and Marisa is part of special education at CES as an aid.

Every other Saturday, the trio travels to the Cisco College campus in Abilene for in person courses specifically geared toward a degree in child development. During the summer break, these team members will be traveling to Abilene for more one on one time with Amy Cohen, the director of the cohort program for Cisco College.

"The encouragement of our Principal Toombs, Vice Principal Finley even the retired Principal  Alexander, and our very own Dr. Polk has been more than a huge cornerstone for me personally but to us all as a cohort. This would not have happened without their due diligence and intentionality toward us and this incredible opportunity," said Marisa Sisco.

The College For All Wolves team of three can look forward to a Letter of Intention from CISD to fill teacher vacancies once they complete their Bachelor's Degree and certifications.

To say that CISD is proud is a minimalization, as College For All Wolves rewards our District and community. Creating elevated jobs within our own CISD family has a positive impact that bleeds into the future as we grow our own. This year that advantage is threefold. Forward, together!
