Colorado ISD Board of Trustees approved several important items during its August 24, 2026 meeting, including the district’s 2026–2027 budget and a lower district tax rate.
The Board approved a total tax rate of $1.0632, which includes $0.7059 for Maintenance and Operations and $0.3573 for debt service.
The 2026–2027 budget was also approved and includes a one-time $2,200 payment for staff.
Another big item was a new partnership with Indiana Wesleyan University and Texas TeachWorthy Grow Your Own. This partnership will give eligible CISD employees a new path to earn a bachelor’s degree and work toward becoming a certified teacher. District leaders shared that employees may be able to begin the program with no previous college hours and complete a bachelor’s degree in about 2.4 years.
The Board also approved the annual AgriLife Rural Student Success Initiative Agreement and reviewed new state requirements, including the taxpayer impact statement required by House Bill 1522 and parental rights training for school board members.
The meeting began with a public hearing on the district budget and proposed tax rate before the Board moved into its regular meeting.
