Colorado ISD Announces Interim CHS Principal
Colorado ISD is pleased to announce that Rebecca Russell will serve as the Interim Principal of Colorado High School, effective January 6, 2026, and will remain in this role until the district completes the search for a permanent CHS Principal.
Ms. Russell is no stranger to Colorado High School or to the Colorado ISD community. She previously served as CHS Principal before transitioning into her current role as P-TECH/P-20/CTE Director, where she has continued to strengthen college, career, and workforce pathways for students across the district.
During her tenure as CHS Principal, the campus earned an A rating, a testament to her strong leadership, creativity, high expectations, and unwavering belief in students and staff. Returning to CHS, Ms. Russell is committed to ensuring that academic excellence, strong systems, and a positive school culture remain top priorities.
“We are incredibly grateful for Ms. Russell’s willingness to step into this role,” said Colorado ISD Superintendent Dr. Larry Polk. “Her experience, her deep relationships within CHS, and her track record of success make her the right leader to guide the campus during this transition. We thank Mr. Komppa for his service to CHS and wish him the very best as he moves toward his future goals.”
Colorado ISD looks forward to supporting Ms. Russell as she transitions into the interim principalship and continues her work on behalf of CHS students, staff, and families.
