Colorado ISD Board of Trustees Meeting Summary

October 20, 2025

The Colorado ISD Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025. The meeting opened with a review of campus and department reports, which are now embedded within the district’s new streamlined agenda format. With no questions or concerns raised, the Board moved into closed session at 5:58 p.m. and reconvened in open session at 6:50 p.m.

Technology & Cybersecurity Updates

Director of Technology, Mr. B.J. Graham, presented on two key initiatives:

  • RSOC Program (Regional Security Operations Center): Through a new partnership with Angelo State University, CISD’s network infrastructure will now be monitored 24/7 by cybersecurity students and professionals. This continuous monitoring provides enhanced protection against cyber threats, even during holidays and school breaks.

  • CIPA Compliance: The district remains compliant with the Children’s Internet Protection Act. Mr. Grant detailed the district’s use of LineWise for content filtering and Infosec for staff cybersecurity training, replacing the previous KnowBe4 program. Teachers also use Classwise to monitor student activity and manage educational access to platforms such as YouTube.

Policy Update – TASB Local Update 126

Superintendent Dr. Larry Polk, Jr. presented an overview of TASB Policy Update 126, a 1,400-page update encompassing multiple areas of district governance. Key highlights included:

  • Open Meetings Requirements: Continued audio recording of meetings and potential consideration for livestream video in the future.

  • Technology and AI Integration: New expectations for staff training on artificial intelligence tools, including classroom applications such as The Magic School Bus platform.

  • Safety and Security: Updates aligned with recent Senate Bills to strengthen campus safety, privacy, and wellness procedures, including EpiPen and tourniquet training for staff.

  • Instructional Materials and Standards: Adoption of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) to ensure classroom content aligns with TEKS and STAAR assessments.

  • Community Engagement: Expansion of the Dialogue AI platform, offering parents and community members a transparent, digital channel for questions, praise, and concerns.

Following discussion, the Board unanimously approved TASB Policy Update 126.

Teacher Housing Initiative

Dr. Polk also presented the district’s next steps in the Teacher and Staff Housing Project, designed to enhance recruitment and retention of high-quality educators. The Board approved a resolution to continue moving forward with this initiative. Plans include modern, affordable housing options for district staff as part of CISD’s broader commitment to supporting employees and strengthening the community.
