Colorado ISD is proud to welcome the participation of eligible homeschool students in UIL activities, in accordance with Senate Bill 401, passed by the 89th Texas Legislature. This new legislation allows non-enrolled students to take part in University Interscholastic League (UIL) programs, such as athletics, fine arts, and academic competitions, through their local public school district.

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, homeschool students who reside within Colorado ISD boundaries and meet all UIL eligibility requirements will be able to participate in these extracurricular opportunities alongside enrolled students.

Additionally, if a student's resident district has formally opted out of allowing homeschool participation, that student may become eligible to participate through Colorado ISD, provided they meet UIL requirements.

Families of homeschool students interested in participating will need to follow all applicable UIL guidelines, including academic documentation and eligibility standards.

This release serves as official notice that Colorado ISD will comply with and support the implementation of SB 401. We believe that teamwork, creativity, and healthy competition should be available to every learner, and we look forward to welcoming new faces into the programs that make student life in Wolf Nation so special.
