Attention Colorado ISD Families:
In June 2025, Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1481, which prohibits student use of cell phones and other smart devices (including smartwatches and tablets) during the school day.
Elementary Students:
If a student brings a phone to school, it must be checked in and secured at the front office.
Secondary Students:
Colorado ISD is considering expanding the existing policy to require phones be secured in magnet-locked pouches that remain with students but are inaccessible during the school day.
This new law applies to all Texas public schools and aims to minimize distractions and maximize learning.
