The Colorado ISD Convocation 2023 was held at the CHS Auditorium on August 8, and it was a heartwarming and inspiring event for everyone in attendance. From the board trustees to the administrators, teachers, staff, and CISD partnerships, the event brought together the entire CISD family.
Mrs. Liliana Ornelas, the CISD Board Vice President, welcomed the guests with open arms, while Mrs. Sheila Plagens, the President of the CISD Education Foundation, spoke to our CISD family and partners. Dr. Polk, our CISD Superintendent, shared the Star Moments from 2022-2023, celebrating the achievements of our students, teachers, and staff.
The highlight of the event was the our guest speaker, Thomas C. Murray, who delivered a motivating speech on the importance of being "Personal & Authentic." Murray spoke about the need for educators to connect with their students on a personal level and to be authentic in their teaching. He emphasized that students learn best when they feel valued and respected by their teachers.
The CISD Convocation 2023 reminded everyone of the importance of working together as a family to provide the best education and support for our students. CISD is committed to providing a safe, fair, and supportive learning environment for all students, and the Convocation 2023 was a testament to this commitment.
The event was a wonderful and a perfect way to prepare for the return of our students on August 9.
