During their meeting on June 12, the CISD School Board discussed several important topics, such as a proposal for a new scoreboard, the appointment of board leaders, and the announcement of the new principal for CHS. It was a significant and busy night for the board, as they aimed to guarantee the school's and its community's continuous growth and development.

Colorado ISD school board convened to approve an upgrade for the scoreboard at Wolf Stadium. They opted to install a new LED Video Scoreboard before the upcoming football season. The board's primary goal was to offer Career and Technical Education (CTE) prospects to CTE Audio Visual students. These students will acquire skills in running and managing the scoreboard, producing content and graphics, and incorporating interviews into the displays during games. This opportunity is essential for students interested in pursuing an audio and visual design career.

Trustee, Ty Wood, highlighted the significance of equipping students for their future and encouraging the audio-visual aspect of this prospect.

"I do like the idea of promoting the audio and visual side of things. One of those ways is not putting aside the stadium improvement, but that is what these kids live in. Dr. Alexander said, "We need to train these kids for their future, not our past." Everything that we deal with is audio-visual. I do like the idea of promoting the audio-visual side of this opportunity," said Trustee Ty Wood.

When school starts this fall, CISD CTE Audio/Visual students will begin learning how to operate the Spectrum Scoreboard. Although Trustee Jamie Alvarez initially had concerns, Mr. Alvarez ultimately agreed with the decision to move forward.

"I  don't know, I'm torn. I love the innovation, especially the CTE audio-visual aspect of it. My main thing is to make sure that the allocations are at a priority and there is nothing else needed at this time. We have the money set back for the CTE program; the stadium improvement is just a small portion," said Trustee Jamie Alvarez.

The CISD School Board unanimously approved the purchase of a new LED video scoreboard, with Mr. Wood motioning for approval and Mr. Alvarez seconding.

The board has nominated Emily Stain for the position of president, Liliana Ornelas for the role of vice president, and Veronica Boone as the secretary. Our esteemed school board trustees will be participating in the TASB Summer Leadership Institute in San Antonio from June 14 to June 17.

CISD is thrilled to share the latest development in our school community: Steve Komppa has been appointed as the new CHS Principal!

We want to take this opportunity to express our sincerest congratulations and well wishes to him as he begins this exciting new chapter in his career. Undoubtedly, he will excel in his new role and continue to lead our school toward success and excellence.
