There's been an update about the upcoming CISD Partnership event with Mitchell County Hospital. The Texas Department of Public Safety car seat check has been changed to a booster seat check.
However, we will still have car seats available for families in need during the Bike Safety event in June. TxDot has informed us that they are currently experiencing a car seat shortage, so they won't be able to perform the full check as usual.
Texas law requires that all children younger than eight years old, unless they are taller than 4 feet 9 inches, be secured in a child safety seat whenever they ride in a vehicle. Older children who have outgrown a booster seat must be buckled with a seat belt.
The Booster Seat Check event will take place on May 22nd from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Colorado Elementary School Parking Lot.
