Kara Martin

It's a busy time of year for students participating in local and major livestock shows. A lot of barn time and highway miles are spent furthering the opportunities for our students and their animals. That time paid off for Kara Martin!

Colorado FFA member Kara Martin had a great show at the Houston Livestock Rabbit Breeding Show on March 7th & 8th.

Kara took 1st place with her Lynx Rex Junior Buck and another blue ribbon with her Ruby-eyed White Polish Junior Doe, also Best Opposite Variety.

Kara also competed in the costume contest with 70-75 other exhibitors and placed 4th in the Elaborate Costume category. Her costume was inspired by rodeo clown Leon Coffee.

"With the Mitchell County Livestock Show adding rabbits this year, several kids took theirs down the road to learn more. It has been a great learning experience for all. Kids are excited to add more rabbits for next year. They have already been working on choosing additional breeds," said Colorado FFA Sponsor Jennifer Morris.

To get the judge's nod at the majors is a huge accomplishment. Way to go, Kara!
